Our goal is to ensure that each student has complete confidence in and mastery of their skills, in and out of the water.
When you chose to do your PADI open water scuba diving course with Cortez Expeditions, you are choosing to train with experienced instructors who will work closely with you each step of the way - giving you the ultimate learning experience!
Cortez Expeditions has a state-of-the-art classroom where knowledge reviews and exams will take place. Once it's time to get in the water, you'll spend one day in the swimming pool to fulfill the confined water requirements. We utilize a swimming pool with a shallow end for skill demonstration and practice as well as a deep end for once you are more comfortable in the water. After successful completion of the confined water requirements, we take you out on a boat to dive at the amazing Espiritu Santo Marine Reserve. Your open water dives 1 & 2 will be at the world famous dive site known as Los Islotes, a sea lion colony that serves as the perfect location for your first experience in the ocean. Here, you'll enjoy the beautiful and charismatic Californian sea lion as you develop greater mastery of your diving skills. Your next two open water dives (dives 3 & 4) may be completed by returning to Los Islotes or any other dive site in the area. This unique opportunity to complete your open water course surrounded by some of the most playful and curious marine mammals is what makes training with Cortez Expeditions so special!
